ISLAMABAD: Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sahibzada Noor-ul-Haq Qadri Thursday said mosques in the nation would not be shut, in any case, the admirers would need to keep their number in Jamaat (gathering) supplications to the base level to control the spread of corona-virus.

Conversing with the media flanked by Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umer, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza and Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Lt Gen Muhammad Afzal, he said it has concurred in the gathering held at the administration that youngsters and unwavering of more than 50 years ago, other than the wiped out ones, ought to be banned from offering every day and Friday petitions in the mosques.

He said the recitation of the Holy Quran, Azaan, Zikar, and supplications would proceed in the mosques.

Citing a Hadith, he said Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) had permitted Muslims to offer supplications at home during substantial downpours and tempests.

Different mosques and sanctums, including Masjid e Aqsa, the holy place of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and other consecrated strict spots had just been shut to maintain a strategic distance from coronavirus spread, he included.

He said the Ulema approved President Dr. Arif Alvi to take prudent steps and essential choices to contain the spread of corona-virus.
